Started in 1991, in the summer, when the Turkish jeans business was blooming and books were the Holy Grail of commerce, born simply out of passion, the Summer Book Trade Show passed its 16th iteration.
There were five years when various publications joined in to write a page of the book of culture by the sea shore, but it seems the smell of seaweed and seashells wasn’t the best, so, one full moon night, we came up with Book in the Sand, and instead of publications, we invited real writers of modern Romanian literature.
Suddenly, the nights came alive and the smell of the sea caught the scent of the book-holding virgin.
And so, in the year 2015, we reached the 18th edition of the festival and the flower of Romanian writings, be it poetry, prose or literary comments, agreed to join us in a summer oozing of hot sand on the seashore of the Black Sea in Mangalia.
Many writers took part, lovingly, in the trade show as time went by, such as Alexandru Condeescu , Gabriel Liiceanu, Emil Brumaru, Mircea Dinescu, Nichita Danilov, Ioan Es. Pop, Cristina Cârstea, Mircea Cartarescu, Octavian Paler, Georgeta Dimisianu, Marin Mincu, Ioan Grosan, Stefan Popa’s, Domnita Stefanescu, Bujor Nedelcovici, Cristiana Eso, Ioana Nicolaie, Eugen Serbanescu, Radu Paraschivescu, Grigore Vieru, Daniel Dumitru Ionascu, Aurelia Lapusan, Stefania Mincu, Ileana Malancioiu, Horia Gârbea, Mihai Pînzaru PIM, Daniel Cristea Enache, Ion Barbu, Andrei Paunescu, Dan C.
